My mom’s family is from Wynnewood, so I grew up spending a few weeks each summer at their farm with my sister. The best part of the drive from Rockford, IL, to the little town off I-35 was nearing exit 66 and seeing the “Emerald City” (as I referred to the refinery) glittering in the distance, letting us know we were almost there.
